Branklyn
Garden is by a busy main
road, on the side of a hill overlooking Perth, but this
is a haven of peace and colour.
Here is a small but
magnificent garden with an impressive collection of rare and
unusual plants. Among the most breathtaking is the Himalayan
blue poppy, Meconopsis x sheldonii.
Described as the finest
two acres of private garden in the country, this oasis of
peace and colour is a real urban haven, within walking distance
of Perth. It contains an impressive collection of many rare
and unusual plants - among the most breathtaking are the Himalayan
poppies, Meconopsis.
The garden is predominantly
a collection of plants from China, Tibet, Bhutan and the Himalayas.
There is an impressive amount of the original plants collected
by the famous plant collection team Ludlow and Sheriff.
There is a rock garden
with purple maple and the rare golden Cedrus. Seasonal highlights
in May and June are the alpines and rhododendrons and in autumn
the fiery red Acer palmatum.
This garden is lovely
in Spring and also has great Autumn colours.
